About us

Johnny.Decimal was created in 2010 when a bunch of friends and I produced a contemporary dance performance. We stuck the ticket price list to the office wall and I realised that there wasn't a nice way to indicate where that document was saved in our Dropbox. From the desire not to print an ugly filename, the idea was born.

I used it to organise my own life and jobs for the next 10 years. By 2015 there was a website. In 2023 I asked my partner Lucy if I could quit my corporate job to 'be Johnny.Decimal'. She said yes, and now we both work on it full-time.

A lot of our content is free. The system is publicly documented on this site and you can use it without restriction. I give as much of my time as possible to answering questions on the forum and Discord.

This is what we do for a living. It pays our rent. This allows us to spend a lot more time thinking and making useful stuff.

Before, I only had an hour or so on weekends. Now, you get Johnny and Lucy working at least 6 days a week. So that's why we sell things, and why everything isn't free.
